First Ryerson Greens Meeting!

With Special Guests
Frank De Jong, leader of the Green Party of Ontario
Chris Tindal, Green Party of Canada candidate for Toronto Centre and Ryerson alumni (RTA)
January 14th, 2008
6:00pm
Student Campus Centre
Room B34

Vegan-friendly snacks will be provided!

Get pumped, folks: an election is going to be called in Toronto Centre (Ryerson's riding), one way or another, before the END OF 2007! This is fantastic news for us because of a number of reasons. The main one is that the Greens have been polling quite highly recently, as their profile grows, and as the shadow of environmental damage becomes more daunting. Also, because of the party's limited resources, we can concentrate on a specific riding instead of having the funds spread out across the nation.

Because of this, we'll need volunteers. Volunteering for the Green Party is an amazing, addictive experience, especially in the adrenaline-infused environment of an election. You get to meet fantastic people and learn about politics. If you want to get involved with the party, a great first step is either joining this group or getting on our mailing list (which you can do by sending an e-mail to ryersongreens@rsuonline.ca).

Step two is to come out to our very first Ryerson Greens meeting! We'll tell you a little bit about our party, our goals, and about where you can fit in. In attendance will be Green Party of Ontario leader Frank De Jong and Green Party of Canada candidate Chris Tindal! Even if you just want to find out more about the party, you don't want to miss it.

See the event on Facebook here.

First Meeting Postponed to January

Hey everyone, We've postponed the first meeting to sometime in January when everyone is less busy and frazzled. Be sure to stay in the Facebook group (or on our mailing list) so we can let you know about the date and time, and if you know anyone else that might be interested, feel free to invite them too!

Happy Holidays!

Hello world!

We can.
We can build a sustainable Canada.
We can build an inclusive Canada.
We can build a healthy Canada.
We can renew our democracy.
We can build a sustainable fiscal framework.

2007 is our first year as the Ryerson Greens and we're excited about becoming an established voice on campus. We are the Green Party's presence, which means not only politics but ground level activism. We want to see Ryerson become the best and most sustainable campus it can be.

The Green Parties of Ontario and Canada have been growing exponentially. The 2007 provincial election saw the party's popular vote jump by 386%. Federally, the party has polled as high as 14% and we are looking forward to a by-election in Ryerson's Toronto Centre riding very soon. Be a part of the excitement.

Being early in our evolution, we're still trying to define our role. We want to host events, speakers, and be part of campaigns. That's for sure. But we also want your help. What do you want to see us do campus? E-mail us, come to our meetings, and get involved. We'd love to have you.
